Smart Energy Instruments (SEI)

John joined SEI as the Director, Business Development in 2010, coming directly from Siemens

Communications. John spent four years at Siemens, most recently as Director, Business Development

responsible for the go-to-market strategy and partner ecosystem for Siemens Commʼs Smart Grid

Incubator. Johnʼs product portfolio included SIP IP under-glass meter solutions, aspects of unified

communications in the Utility sector and IP security solutions. Prior to this John spent 25 years as

President and CEO of Spectrum Management, a wireless solutions boutique, crafting multiple industrial

and government sector solutions nationally and offshore. At SEI John is responsible for developing

strategic and tactical opportunities in the growing measurement and monitoring markets. John is driving

SEIʼs initiatives, pilot programmes and customer focused trials in North America and Europe.

John brings 25 plus years of experience with start-up companies and game changing technologies to SEI

and the Smart Grid.

Selected Accomplishments:

•         Raised the initial venture funding for the largest ISM/WiFi equipment provider,

" SLW-Aironet-Cisco

•         Conceived, developed and managed two Technology Excellence Centres at Netcon 1997 to 1998

•         Built the then largest WiFi based city wide network in the world from 1997 to 1999

•         Wirelessly enabled Bermuda
