Dr. Neil Alexander has been involved in the nuclear industry for more than 20 years with consulting experience and in-depth knowledge of business management, marketing and sales.  A long-time advocate of nuclear power as a secure and environmentally sensitive source of energy, Dr. Alexander has worked for business-to-business service companies within the nuclear services, waste management and radiopharmaceutical sectors in the U.K. and Canada.  

Dr. Alexander’s work experience includes a number of prominent companies within the nuclear sector.   From 1986 to 2002, he worked for the AEA Technology Group of Companies which was created after the privatization of the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA).  He helped the company through its privatization transition, and established new business units in radio-pharmaceuticals, waste management and transport services.  He was also appointed president of Monserco Ltd., a nuclear waste management company, and oversaw its operations in Canada.  During his time there, he grew the company through solidifying relationships with customers, regulators and suppliers, and introducing new products and services.

Upon settling in Canada in 2002, Dr. Alexander became the director of the Ontario Power Generation (OPG) account for Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd. (AECL).  Between 2004 and 2008 he held senior management positions in business development for SNC-Lavalin Nuclear Inc. and Babcock & Wilcox Canada.  He also established his own consultancy, Bucephalus Inc., where he advised and acted as an agent for nuclear engineers, service providers and within the construction industry.

Dr. Alexander obtained his PhD in Radiation Damage in Ferritic Steels, and a BSc in Metallurgy and Materials Science, both from the University of Birmingham.  He served as a director on OCI’s board of directors since 2004 and as a council member for the Canadian Nuclear Society.  Dr. Alexander remains active in Canada’s nuclear power industry with a commitment to addressing its growing energy demands while minimizing greenhouse gases.  He also looks forward to continue promoting and growing business opportunities for OCI members, and focusing the association on the enormous export opportunities for Canada’s nuclear industry.
